More than half of Americans built their own pages on Facebook

March 27, according to media reports, a new survey of the market research firm Edison Research shows that more than half of Americans built their own web pages on Facebook.

Edison Research Corporation reached these conclusions after surveyed 2020 Americans at the age of 12 years and above. The company said 51% Americans at the age of 12 years and above have a Facebook account, the survey results will all be published on Apr. 5. This is the company’s 19th survey of digital media related topics. Since 2008 the company has been follow-up surveying the development of Facebook, when only 8% of Americans aged 12 and above had Facebook accounts.

Since 2008, the usage of Facebook added much more, especially people aged 35 and over are the fastest-growing number of users. Interestingly, the youngest American who owns a Facebook page is only 13 years old.

At the same time when increasing in the number of users, Facebook also strengthen management. Last week, Facebook said they have to remove about 20,000 pages each day, because some of these are adult-only, while others contain spam and bad information.

Facebook did not comment on this survey.
